Geocities Problems And Workarounds

Welcome to this website. The purpose of the pages contained here is to help answer some of the more frequently asked questions we get in Geocities Help Chat. By placing the answers here it will save us from having to explain them at least 100 times a day and will give us a place where we can give more detailed answers than what we could give you in the chat room. I'm sorry if these answers seem long-winded. It was necessary to explain them better. If you are in a hurry when you arrive here you should come back later when you are not.

If you are looking for help with Yahoo's Pagebuilder then you won't find a better help site than Wise Old Man's. Almost every possible aspect of pagebuilder has been covered. There about 400 categories here from placing links on a page to adding a copy and paste Javascript. You simply won't believe it until you see it for yourself. If you have questions that you can't get answered any other way then email Dave here Comment Form. Dave has also written a very helpful Yahoo Page Wizard tutorial. Here is the main entrance to Wise Old Man's web site.

Domain Name in Free Accounts

Yahoo tells you that you must signup for their Geocities Pro Account to use a domain name. That is only true if you buy your domain name from them. If you get it here Godaddy.com you can direct it to any account anywhere. This includes Geocities Free and Plus Accounts.

If you are going to have a decent looking homepage these days you need a graphics viewing/editing program. There are many available on the web. Some are free, some are shareware (use now pay later) and some you have to pay before you use them. The pay before you use type is usually the most expensive and has the most features.

Irfanview is a very fast, small, compact and innovative FREEWARE (for non-commercial use) graphic viewer/editor for Windows 9x/ME/NT/2006/XP/2006. There are many plugins that you can download and add on to this wonderful program to give it even more functionality.
